Hawaii Service Rates for 2024
In their effort to keep pace with rising costs, Matson Navigation Company (“Matson”) announced they will increase container rates by $250 per westbound and $125 per eastbound container, effective January 7, 2024. Simultaneously, their Terminal Handling Charge (THC) will increase by $150 to $1,525 per westbound container and $90 to $790 per eastbound container. In addition, the following adjusted surcharges will apply:
▪ Hazardous Ocean Surcharge will increase by $25 per container
▪ Hazardous Truck Surcharge will increase by $25 per container
As a result, our Hawaii rates will increase like amounts for Full Container Loads (FCL).
For Less-than-Container Load (LCL) cargo, our Customer rates will be raised based on various factors, including the commodity, density, and current costs. These changes will occur with shipments sailing on or after January 7, 2024. Please get in touch with your Salesperson to discuss adjustments to your rate levels.
As you may already know, the State of Hawaii increases its Wharfage and Facility Security fees annually on July 1st. Though the increase is unknown, we anticipate a minimum of 3% of the current Hawaii Wharfage and Facility Security charges.
Due to increased costs in our Hawaii operations, we will increase our Oahu Westbound ocean delivery and related accessorial rates for service by 5%, effective January 7, 2024.

Guam, CNMI, and Micronesia Service Rates for 2024
Matson Navigation Company (“Matson”) announced that to offset the significantly higher costs all businesses have incurred, service rates for their Guam, CNMI, and Micronesia service will increase by the following increments effective February 4, 2024:
West Bound East Bound

Terminal Handling Charge $150 Terminal Handling Charge $90 W/M $11 W/M $11
Vehicle $100 Vehicle $100
Hazardous Cargo $25 Hazardous Cargo $25
Hazardous Truck $25 Hazardous Truck $25
As a result, our Guam, CNMI, and Micronesia rates will increase by similar amounts for FCL-Full Container Loads.
